1) Inertia Demonstrations

Inertia is a concept that deals with the tendency of an object to resist change in its motion. It is often explained in the form of Newton's first law, which states that an object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion, unless an external force acts on it. To demonstrate this concept, we can perform a series of experiments with a simple pendulum, a bowling ball, and a tablecloth.

In the first experiment, hang a simple pendulum from a ceiling and pull it away from the center. When you let go of the bob, it swings back and forth, stopping only after several oscillations. This is because of the inertia of the pendulum, which keeps it moving until friction and air resistance bring it to a stop.
In the second experiment, place a bowling ball on a flat surface, and roll it towards a tablecloth that is spread over the surface. When the ball hits the tablecloth, it continues rolling, but the tablecloth slides out from underneath. This is because of the inertia of the ball, which prevents it from being stopped by the friction and weight of the tablecloth.

2) Refraction and Reflection

Refraction and reflection are two related concepts in physics that explain how light behaves when it passes through different mediums. To demonstrate these concepts, we can use a glass of water and a mirror.

In the first experiment, place a pencil or any object in an empty glass of water and observe how it appears to be bent when viewed from the side. This happens because the light passing through the water refracts or bends due to the difference in refractive indices of water and air.

In the second experiment, hold a mirror at an angle such that you can see your reflection in it. Now, place an object between you and the mirror, seen from the side. Observe how the reflection changes when the object is moved in front of the mirror. This change happens because the angle of incidence and angle of reflection change due to the presence of the object.

3) The Power of Air Pressure

Air pressure is a fascinating concept that can be used to perform several experiments, such as the can-crushing experiment and the water-bottle rocket experiment.
In the can-crushing experiment, take a regular soda can and heat it over a source of heat until it becomes hot and steamy. Once it is hot enough, invert the can into a bowl of ice-cold water, and watch how it crushes itself due to the drop in air pressure inside the can.

In the water-bottle rocket experiment, take an empty plastic water bottle, connect it to a bicycle pump, and pump it with air until it is pressurized. Once it is pressurized enough, release it, and watch it fly up into the air due to the force generated by the pressurized air escaping from the bottle.

4) Magnets and Electromagnetism

Magnets and electromagnetism are fascinating concepts in physics that can be demonstrated using a simple magnet and a wire.

In the magnet experiment, take a small magnet, place it under a sheet of paper, and sprinkle iron filings over it. Observe how the filings align themselves according to the magnetic field generated by the magnet.
In the electromagnet experiment, take a long wire, wrap it around a nail, and connect it to a battery. Observe how the nail becomes magnetized, and how it attracts metal objects when brought close to it.

5) Sound Experiments

Sound is an essential aspect of physics that can be demonstrated using a tuning fork and a water glass.

In the tuning fork experiment, strike a tuning fork and hold it against the opening of a water glass. Observe how the sound changes in volume and pitch when the tuning fork is lifted away from the glass.

In the water glass experiment, partially fill a water glass and run your finger gently around the rim to hear a sound. Observe how the sound changes in pitch when the water level in the glass is changed.
